eating ice??

I have no idea why they do it, but mine love snow... and they don´t love any random snow, just the one on my boots and white frost on walls. All other kinds of frosty fluids are ignored.

That´s why I love chickens

they are crazy.

I think it's just the way they are wired. They eat anything small enough to get down and thus they are survivors.
Although after a good Brain Freeze I wold think they would give it up.

i think they dont care if there water is clean i think its just that it is cold for there throats but idk im jess guessin on dat so juss let them i guess:D

My hens love to eat the snow off my boots or that has fallen onto the floor. Yummy. The also love the broken ice bits in their water. My dogs will wait for me to bring in all the frozen water buckets to de-frost by the wood stove, then they will stand around and fight over who gets to eat the ice. The real winner is the dog who gets the goat turds frozen in the ice. My horses will walk by a nice frsh bucket or water to eat the snow in the pasture, even if its dirty. sigh.

Prob cause its chlorinted CITY WATER. with all the chlormine and 100 other man made toxic chemicals in water......
we catch a little cleanwater from the sky... for them and boil it after a few days i f it sit in a bucket in the garage... they will even pass up that to drink off a dry wall bucket lid rain water. so I have to empty those after a day esp during mosquito weather too.
hum just a saying now to find out if they can have frezer defrosted ice from def freezers.
