We have so many lizards around that when my husband shot one for fun, we decided to see if the chicks would be interested in it. They are less than a month old but loved it. They thought they were in heaven. Now, how safe is this? The pellet was taken out of the lizard so no worries there. But is it okay for them to much on the dead lizard?

Chickens are omnivorous; our chickens on occasion will catch a mouse or a chipmunk in the coop. Once one hen has it everyone starts to tear the rodent apart. Unless the lizards in your region are known to have toxic glands I would not be concerned about them eating lizards.

It should be fine as long as long as they're not them often. There's a good chance your chickens will catch lizards on their own and feast on them, especially if they are free ranging so I wouldn't be too concerned.
The one thing I know now from when I use to feed smaller lizards to my larger lizards, is that there is a chance the feeder lizards may have parasites, especially wild caught ones. I only fed captive bred lizards (usually incubation mistakes) to my large lizards though.

If chickens came nine feet tall like they used to they'd eat YOU.

Lizards are a hen treat. Along with snakes, frogs, and toads.

I haven't a clue what type they are. Some sort of desert lizard, with a blue colored face area.

Yes, they seem fine. I could look on Google, then I'll post my findings.

My girl's favorite thing in the world to eat is geckos. We find them and call her over and she kills it and eats it. It's rather disturbing yet fascinating at the same time. She knows all the good places they hide and wants us to turn over things and stuff so they come out. She has eaten up to 10 in a row. It's crazy.
