I feed my chickens their beloved mealworm treats everyday, and now I’m quite tempted to get a taste of one of those mealworms too. I was curious and upon searching online, found that people cook mealworms in dishes as sources of protein, or mealworms are sold as tasty cheddar/bbq/salt flavored treats(edible for humans).

The question is, can I just go ahead and get a bite of one of those mealworms I’m feeding my chickens? Or could there be harmful bacteria lurking inside?

@Starburst - weeeee neeeeddddd yooouuuuu! ;) :lau (She eats mealworms...)
(Oh, great. Now everyone knows. :th ) I have my own mealworm farm, so I know that mine do not have chemicals when I munch on them...I personally find them tasty, but I'm a strange human. Granted, I don't just grab a handful, but they're still good...anyway, I would say it depends on what brand you buy your mealworms from. If, say, it's from a sustainable organic mealworm farm, then I'd say go for it. But I'm still a crazy person, so don't take my word for it. :D
