I have a silly question . Can a chicken get worms from eating tomatoes with worms in it ?
my garden is almost done and there are some tomatoes that fell to the ground , now they have worms crawling through it .
Gross ! This is where i bring out the girls to take care of this . Do you think they might get worms? or am I crazy for thinking so .
Thanks

Not to worry a bit! It's a real treat for the birds and gives them extra protein...let 'em have at it! :) Those worms won't survive a trip through their crops.

The chickens pick up the parasite eggs directly by ingesting contaminated feed, water, or litter or by eating snails, earthworms, or other insects (intermediate hosts) which can carry the eggs.

You can't prevent them from eating worms. They will find a way :)

They'll have a ball...AND they'll go a long way toward prepping it for spring too...they'll dig around and fertilize as they go :)
