I just happened to check & a seller on ebay has ostrich eggs for sale right now, a lot cheaper than I thought they'd be too...if I had my tax return back I'd order a few but since I can't I am hoping a member on here will get some...yinepu???? I think you NEED to order a few of these lol, you can even candle these things!

Just a word of caution : Ostrich do not have the same temperament as Emu as they get older, especially the males. Males are known to kill people during breeding season. They weight around 500 lbs and need higher, stronger fences then an emu. Also many states require you to have a permit for them. Here in Florida they are listed as needing one, although many people don't. PLEASE know what you are getting into with these.

some of the many reasons why I don't need an ostrich

they are considered to be livestock here.. so no permits are needed... however we have other critters that all work and play nice so i really don't need a giant bird with an attitude to deal with.. besides.. my husband would not be a happy camper if an ostrich ever attacked him or his mini horse.. needless to say we would have ostrich residing in our freezer if that ever happened.. so no need for us to even think about hatching out any

emus are big enough and doofy enough for me.. I know we could always end up with a mean one.. but that seems to rarely happen if they are raised from babies with plenty of human interaction.

I have heard they have been known to kill. Anybody killed in the United States by a domestic Ostrich?
