I h ave been using eBay for a while, but have never done local pickup before. I bid on some turkey eggs being sold by someone with 100% feedback and over 200 previous sales. Since the seller isn't too far away, I asked if they would be OK with local pickup. They gave the greenlight by saying local pickup is fine, I then bid, and won. Now, I need to pay within 24 hours, so shortly after the auction ended I requested an invoice with the price for local pickup. Since there was no official option for local pickup, every time I go to paypal it still wants to charge me 16$ shipping. I sent another message a few hours ago since I got no contact. However, the 24 hour mark is nearing in a few hours. I don't want to seem like a bad buyer, or a nag. I want to pay and arrange a time I can go pick up the eggs. If I don't get contacted at all by the 24 hour mark, what should I do? Send another message?

Yea keep sending messages and do it through ebay. Also you may ask if you could pay in cash when you pick them up. Cash money may get you a faster responce. I know as an ebayer I wouldn't accept paypal for a pick up. There are too many scamers that would take advantage. I know you are not trying to pull anything but I'm just saying it happens.

Ohhh, I hadn't thought about that, people using paypal to scam. I guess I'm too much of a goody two shoes it went right over my head. I will offer cash in my next message, see if that helps. I have sent all the others through eBay so I could have a record there.

Offering to bring the seller cash is about all you can do. Since the seller agreed to local pick-up then they don't really have a lot of room to whine about when you pay them.

OT. Reminds me of when I took my son to pick up his first car (1969 Triumph GT6). When we got there and agreed to buy the car I sheepishly ask "Uh, will you take cash?" the manner that I asked had him thinking that I was going to pay with a check or some other method. He stammered for a few seconds before agreeing that cash was alright.

Back on topic.
A lot of people have been scammed by buyers using PayPal on a local pickup.
Cash or postal money order seems to be the preferred method.

I finally got an invoice minus shipping charges and was able to pay

Hopefully I can pickup the eggs soon, I have my 'bator started up. It is kinda nice, cutting out the middle man that is the USPS, at least I know they won't get scrambled!
