Good greif...
We have hatched countless chicks but this is a first. Turkeys I have seen this a lot, but turkeys are dumb as a rock.
A two day hatch, 2 brooders, one for each day. I was up last night until 2ish, assist hatching the second day late guys. Rescued about 6. Going back and forth from playing on byc and the brooder room.
I gave up on the incubator because no more sounds, checked on both brooders from both days and all looking peachy keen.
Got up a 7 and went back to find 1 out of the six that hatched during the eclipse (day 1) day was face down drown..
Like I said, turkeys are notorious for this but this is the first chicken hatchling I have witnessed. It was running, drinking and exploring last night!
That bummed me out, being first thing in the morning to wake up to.
I have 5 left from eclipse day and 18 from yesterday. 23 from 27 candled positive.
Poor little mottled java dude..
Anyone else experience this? Not with turkeys..
(Edited for better explanation) fc
