Ecomony - What Part of Your Macro-Ecomony are you happy

momma's chickens :

Except for our mortage, we are debt-free. I know how to garden and have a garden spot. We live on almost two acres. We have chickens and ducks for eggs and for meat (if we had to). We have a goat that I could milk although that would be a learning experience. We have a concrete cold cellar and it can also be used for a bomb shelter if needed. (You know that is the first time I thought about it). We have an abundance of deer and wild rabbits and wild turkeys that roam through our area. I can sew and can and you know the saying, "A country boy (or girl) can survive.

This is what I am talking about, this is the kind of raw independence that the people on this web site and America that made us great, now it is time for people like us to lead and help those around us to get to where we are already.

LOL! I come froma liberal arts background but work for a business school. When I saw the post title I wondered what you meant by "macro". hehe

For those who don't know the difference:
Macro - big, overview
Micro - small, individual level

At my micro-economic level, I'm happy and proud to have a whole bunch of food in my pantry that I've made and canned from local sources.

Well on the Macro level, the economy in Phoenix is in the toilet. and it is affecting us big time.

On the micro level... we have lots of savings as long as the banks allow us to continue to withdraw and the currency doesn't get devalued, we'll survive... we have ZERO debt, the house and the business building are paid for as well as taxes on them for next year.

Lets see house is paid for as well as the jeep.We live on almost an acre lot.
I think its time to plug back in that old huge chest freezer.
I had a small garden this year have seeds saved for next year and will have a bigger garden.
Hubby has a job that is allways in demand he is a Correctional officer.
We get free wood to heat with....
People allways thought it was weird that we didnt have credit cards and paid cash for everything.Well not anymore....

Well we were debt free.. then did a bunch of work on the house.. pretty good investment tho.. But I am just one full time semester away (plus one class) from my nursing degree.. we will always need health care.. we have our chickens.. we are not in a bad spot financially with our house (got it for under 100K) pretty hard to do on this side of town.. we have our chickens.. lots of room for a garden.. one car is paid off the other only owe less than 6k (not bad either) I can sew, and my husband hunts.. lots of people around us have had major struggles and we have been holding steady.. hopefully it will stay that way.

I'm thankful that when the housing market went crazy I didn't sell my place. Instead I kept my 1.25 acres and put a new manufactured home on it. My payments are less then $750 and I still have a big old oak trees.
