Economy- has it come down to this?

I'm tellin' ya, it is really coming down to this......things are getting bad.

Those pics are tooooo cute!! Yes, it is getting bad. I am growing out some of my Light/Split Sussex roos to process. I have never done this before, but those 13 lb birds are looking pretty tasty.

Im not going to give them away when I paid 9$ a chick for them...so I decided to kennel them up for two weeks to fatten them so more-and process them at 14 weeks..bleah but even DH said he would eat them this time! Only because IM doing them young and not waiting until they are full grown. They will only be 3 lbs apiece or so.. good enough for a few dinners though...

I'm going to process mine at about 4-5 months too. But, the sussex grow fast and get very large. I'll probably process them around 8 lbs or so. My Rooster now, is around 13 lbs at 9 months old.

wow thats a huge roo! I have a FBCM and White Orp roo that are only 5 months old but they are huge and still growing so much-those are the only 2 LF roos I am keeping going into winter-oh and 1 BLRW roo-Unless one of my lav orp chicks is a roo too:-) The rest of the LF roos will go towards saving groceery money on meat

you know i am growing out my extra roos this year too, just growing sooooo slowwwwwwww, (Australorps, mostly, maybe wyandottes, and maybe a penedecenesnca(sp?) along with turkeys, i think i will be selling the turks though )
