Edit: Genetic Wry neck?

Thank you! She slept through the night after I put a teddy bear in for her to snuggle up with. She seems really really tired but still hungry, thirsty and very poopy. I also switched out the bedding with some of that criss-crossy shelf liner stuff to give her a bit more traction. She kept just falling over and slipping and sliding as she pushed all the bedding out from under herself. I AM debating on putting another chick with her for company - just one. She screamed sooo much last night - would /not/ sleep until I tricked her with the bear.

EDIT - piccy <3

At least as you can see she's pooping fine - no pasty butt.

EDITEDIT -
After watching the chick a bit and veryyy carefully checking the wing... this might actually be SEVERE Wry neck. While wobbling about they very suddenly rooooolled their head back where it seemed to stick and they fell forward and to the right - unable to move and crying. Had lost a silkie chick to this before but not heard of it in d'Uccles so upped her poly-vi-sol intake..

How often should I be offering water with the dropper? They just pooted but it looked very solid and round with a puddle of water beside it.. dehydrated?

They're going downhill fast now. Stopped eating on their own today and refusing water (turns head away from dropper, doesn't seem to want it anymore). Unable to even hobble to their feet like before

I have this chick that I believe may have had wry neck and at the height of her illness she was trying to stuff her own head into holes on the feeder. She didnt eat or drink on her own for two days. I gave her water, vitiamins and watery food by hand several times a day. One day she began to drink on her own and now she is eating. She still tries to go though the holes in feeder. Also she walked around in circles that first couple days and I was afraid she would get injured. Does this sound similar to your chick? If so this chick seems to get a little better everyday after all the worry she put me though.

Also I had to put the dropper in the chicks mouth because she was turning away from it. I thought she would die because I was getting very little in her, I dont know how she made it.

I'm not sure because this chick was still willing to try and take food and water and stuff... even drank all on their own earlier today. Then in this last bit of few hours took a total nose dive. Has gone almost completely limp in the body but stiff in the legs, cries a lot (possibly due to pain), seems completely unaware of what is going on. I had to remove a runt chick I had put in with them because now runt chick is too perky and lively from the vitamins and might hurt them. They seem really unnecessarily sweaty too like.. around the neck area even with heater blanket on lowest setting and moved farther back - feverish? How often did you water and feed them because this chick defo needs to be handfed and watered at this point.

EDIT: SEEMS TO BE SPREADING?! :hmm; I put runty chick back but then as soon as I did they turned their head COMPLETELY upside down and fell over.

That first day I had them in the house so ever time I went by I tried to get a little something in her. I gave her some of that Terramy, well what ever that antibotic you dissolve in water is. I gave her the baby vitiamins, I also tried the things you try for pups, like karo syrup in water. I dont know what kept her alive( except divine intervention) but I think she is gonna make. Do you have experience with wry neck, because this was my first time with this. I do beleive this chick of mine injured herself because she was running around kind of weird right when this started, I wondered if she will make a complete recovery from this?

This is my second (and now third) go with wry neck. First time was a silkie with vaulted skull but now seems to be my mille fleur d'uccles. Two of them now. It makes no sense. Could this be genetic wry neck from one of my hens? My porcelain chicks had 100% hatch success and no losses but I've lost three millies at/right before hatching, two right after hatching and now two of them have extremely severe wry that I don't think I can deal with at this point. Chicks were meant to go to market. I can't sell defective chicks I can't even breed them if they ever recover in case it is a defect of the genes doing this.

That was my next question, what causes it and will the bird be okay as an adult. I raise them for eggs and manure for compost, not gotten in to hatching as an adult. I did hatch a few as a kid but I dont remember alot of probs. I buy alot of pullets and sometime raise sraight run for the fun of it. It is a heartbreak to lose chicks you payed for, but for you even more so because everyone counts. I hope they pull though for you.

I would get some vit E in her fast. I had a silkie chick that was pecked in the head by another chick, got wry neck and I cured it by busting open vit e capsules and squezzing it into her mouth. I think you can also use poly vi sol without iron.
