.edu, .net, or well known news websites about endangerment of green peafowl?

For my college English II class I have to write a 1,700 word commentary about a current event or issue I feel strongly about. The key to doing these writing assignments is to always pick something that would be fun to write, and so I decided to write about the endangerment of green peafowl because this topic really interests me and I like reading about it so I know about it. We have to have three sources for the paper though and our teacher will not allow us to use .com websites...I e-mailed her asking if I can use .org websites because so far the only useful things on green peafowl endangerment I am finding are on .org websites.

If any of you know of some .edu, .net, or well known news websites that would help me out that would be great!

I am still searching around for some but I have never been told I can't use a .com site for a paper at all so this is a bit of a challenge. I feel like all the really good information is on the .com websites, and I know plenty of those dealing with this topic!

Well for now I will work on writing the paper and later I can put more information from sources in the paper.

I cited all the sources in MLA style and quoted or paraphrased very little.

from the Arkive website I just quoted about why green peafowl are endangered and that they are the largest of all galliformes. From the Peafowl-Farm website I used it to help me describe what green peafowl look like and from the gbwf website I quoted it for the different locations the green peafowl lives in.

My paper was mainly saying that some of the reasons wild peafowl are in decline can be stopped using alternatives...For example some farmers poison them to keep them from eating the crops. Instead I suggested that the farmers could have a dog that would chase away the peafowl, thus not harming them but making them leave the crops alone. Also it would be useful if there were more green peafowl breeders as it can be hard finding pure greens to start with. Finally I said that a very creditable, easy to read, easy to access document showing exactly how to tell the difference between the subspecies and hybrids vs. pure greens would be very benificial and perhaps help prevent people buying spaldings thinking they are greens. Mainly I just think there is a lot of green peafowl information that people don't know about and it would be easier if we could throw out all the confusion and be left with the pure facts.

Of course all of this is just a matter of opinion and I chose this topic because I love peafowl and it was easy to write 1700 words (5 pages double space) when it was all about birds.
