When in a garden bed and watered, and trellised up a 4' wide by 8' high panel on the west end of a garden bed, it created a wall of green, which gave me my best sweet pepper success ever, because it shaded them from the direct afternoon sun and I didn't get sun scalded peppers. I may try that again next spring/summer...

Well it's dark in gonna pack it in.... See you when i get home

See you soon!
You'd be proud of me. One less feral cat scoping out my birds. He's been around for quite a while, but travelling across the yard, minding his own business, so I let him alone. This time he was right behind the run. He's still behind the run, but he's now assumed room temperature.

Well, another day full of chores and then garden work. It's getting dark and I'm beat, so I packed it in. My wrist is totally burning. You see, I was clearing brush in the garden, and in my yard, chili pequin plants are like weeds. I somehow managed to get one of the little peppers wedged under my watch band, and didn't know what had happened until I saw the red smear. Thought I cut myself at first, but it was too orange. Washed it, but it still burns. (Not bad - just mildly irritating, like when you handle hot peppers in the kitchen.)

That digging is tough on my back (I hate getting old) - I kept having to stop and do other stuff. At least there's always something to do, so I was productive. But the digging MUST start first thing in the AM. I've gotta get these trees in. And it's getting dark so early now, it's not like I can do it during the week.

I've got two lemongrass plants that are each about 5 ft high and 3 ft wide - they desperately need to be cut back. Anybody have ideas on what to do with a LOT of fresh lemongrass?

Question:

How do you remain satisfied with your choice of chicken breeds? I read about why others like the breed they have picked and begin to want is in their coop.

I got a bunch of different birds for my flock-for ones I was really interested in, I hatched or bought 3 hens and 1 roo. My seramas are my favorite but I really am loving my swedish flower hens, orpingtons and brahmas. so I will have my free rangers/layers in one coop, my specialty/predator prone birds in the one with the run, my seramas in the garage and then during spring, summer and fall, I will set up mini breeding pens with runs for anything i want to specialize in.

I just keep lots of different breeds- No uniform flocks here!
