How cute and disposable ! Milk carton or box feeder

These are the first chicks we've ever had, they seem to be doing well so I hope we're not messing this up! DH and I just love to sit and watch them, they are so cute! We got 2 Buff Orpingtons, 2 Barred Rocks, and 2 White Plymouth Rocks. Dh and I each named 3 (we are using them for eggs, unless one turns out to be a roo, then we can't keep him), see if you can guess which ones we each named

This is the feeder dh made for them, they love to jump on top of it

Sorry it took so long to get back, dh made this little drawing of how he did the little feeder. They love to perch on it, so it's pretty gross by now, but it's worked wonderfully. Let me know if the drawing is confusing! We love watching our girls!

I think at some point when I find lowes buckets for cheap I will switch out the wood nest boxes, I hate trying to get the shavings out and clean them.

these are cool, take the fronts off and slip that stuff out and wipe clean.

Quote: Don't you know anyone who does drywall work? Empty joint compound buckets are the same thing you pay Lowes for. DW used to come home with them from Roy Rodgers when she worked there. If you talk to the mgr (if you have any near you), he'd probably give you all you want, or save them for you; I'm betting they get thrown into the dumpster.
