I know you are right. My sister told me about that with her hiking trip in Europe. I knew about the outer clothes, but was surprised on the undies.I am not giving advice without experience to back it up, I have backpacked 5000 miles
cotton clothing kills, you can get hypothermia, find quick dry and warm when wet, poly propylene long underwear is great, cotton long underwear should be left in your car. Wool socks are great, no cotton socks
no cotton

I put my kids on Craigslist yesterday. It is hard to believe that they are a month old and will be ready to wean in January. They are too cute, but growing like weeds.

Mel@BantyChooksSeeing your hatch countdown made me wonder about mine. It is a bit depressing, but given how fast life is flying by, it is only going to be a blink. 256 days and counting down...
I've been getting a flurry of scam calls on my cell. Sometimes 10 or more a day. Quite annoying.
I let them go to my voice mail and just realized it may be making matters worse because they then know it is a real #.
I started answering them as "Cook County Police Department, what is your emergency?
They always hang up.
if I make it printable there's no need for me anymore, actually there isnt now, but still!!![]()

I told myself its fine and eat the dang things, I dont need to incubate with all these pups this winter and Liz is busy too lol
2.5-3 hours. That was why I was bummed when I went to KC to take my sister her share of the cow before they headed back to Chicago to find them closed. (They closed black Friday)My eyes aren't that good anymore but I don't see any halos.
This time of year I like to add a bit of light to photostimulate the roosters if I'm going to incubate.
That's a long haul.

I resemble that remark when I see odd items, but it applies to horses and goats as well as chickens for me![]()

@MotorcycleChick I did that with my goat feeders for hay. I saw the plastic crate pallets for metal parts at a local business and Gordon bad ones. Two sides have fold down/open openings. I put a two by four in the opening so they would not climb in, and a plywood lid with a handle on one end and hinges on the other. It keep the hay dry and not pooped on, and is easy to fill.

try and snack some every hour, if you get in bad weather, put food in your pockets so you can eat without stopping.
try to take breaks on an uphill climb, you will generate body heat quicker when you start again
weather in the mountains can change quickly, snow any season in the Rocky Mountains, thunderstorms in the afternoon when you are going.
a good hat is a must in my pack even in summer, your body will warm up faster if your head is warm.
cross swollen streams/creeks in pairs, lock forearms and unbuckle waist belts and chest straps, pick up one of your four feet at a time, if you fall the eddy is behind boulders , swim to the eddy and stand up again
Does any of this make sense?
