Same here but I have so little pavement I don't use that much. Just enough to get to the gravel - which was a bit treacherous with the freezing rain and deep freeze.

I usually don't use anything on the gravel part of the driveway, that part is flat. The part I use salt on is blacktop and can be a pain in the butt if not kept clean.

That may be the cheapest way to go about it. The protein in the vegetable sourced feeds is supplemented by synthetic lysine and methionine that you'll find posted in the ingredient list. They are down the list near the added stabilized vitamins.

Just look for the crude protein % and look for meat/fish to be the first ingredients listed.

I opt for plain meat or fish. I have 60% fishmeal that I mix in at a 10:1 ratio that raises a 16% feed to 20%.
A really cheap and simple thing is canned mackerel. Good quality fish and the cheapest canned one can buy per ounce in a grocery store.

That's fast and convenient.
The first time I raised a big batch of meat birds as an adult, the only place I could find was about 60 miles away in Illinois. Add the travel time/cost and price to the cost of raising them I decided it didn't make sense not to do it myself here.

Nice. Is that an Arduino Uno?
I'm working on the same thing.
Mind sharing what sensors you/he are using?

You wake up little Suzie, it's too cold here.
The weather man says it is +3 here but I'm measuring exactly 0 F here at 5 AM on my Thermoworks instant read.
I'll check it closer to sunrise.

It is :p Sweet! :highfive: I only know the name of the DHT11 sensor, which we're using for humidity since when we tried to use it for temp it was about 15 degrees off. I'll ask him later and let you know what the temp sensor is as it's insanely accurate.

I decided a long time ago not to pave the driveway or patio areas. I opted for brick pavers for their permeability. That kept me from getting a sewer bill (whole other story).
When one patio area was done, I planned a paver driveway with radiant heat underneath. It would be fairly cheap to operate since we usually only get a few snows a year and once melted and drained, the system could be turned off. It is still on the wish list but I'll probably need a job before I can act on it.

A Radiant heat driveway and sidewalks would be great.

The warehouse fire was apparently started by some homeless people trying to keep warm. One of the house fires was from a van catching on fire in the garage and another was a man cooking in his basement.

I just checked it at just before 6AM and it is up to a balmy 1.4 F. Going all the way up to 25 today.
I'm hoping this is the coldest of the season. The rest of the week is supposed to be 40s high and 20s for a low.
We may get the usual mid January break, but February is usually polar. Right now I am sitting in my car (not running since I dress in to many layers) while I wait for the mechanic since my truck would not start this morning. I won't sit in it because while my car is cold those day cabs are freezing tin cans.

Good morning everyone. It is supposed to get up to a balmy thirty one today which will feel great after the below zero and single digits. I just hope the sun thaws my permanent waterer which froze up. I hope that it is not the heater in it again, but simply something stuck. It seems to only last a year or a year and a half.
