I had her out of her carrier and was trying to get her to eat... She stood up (on the RIGHT side of the web) and limped the 12 inches to her carrier.

And you shoulda dispatched those guineas ages ago. Did you see Chicken People? I thought of you when the very quiet well spoken guy with the SLWs (in New Hampshire) was walking in his run, and there was a ruckus outside and he said "Those **** guineas!"

Update?

I got the darkest egg so far from one of my pullets yesterday. Not as dark as some pure BCM eggs, but still pretty dark. The point is, though, that my Magicfly candler still lets me see inside pretty well. I think it's the same candler that Bubbles is using.

Which one do you have, Whites? I have a VERY strong flashlight, but it's not quite performing like I'd like for candling. There are a couple very similar to the Magicfly one on Amazon, and I can't tell if there's a high intensity one or if they're all the same...
Chrissy just willingly took a bite of crumble!!! Thank you Lord!!

Quote: 'Member the rat I told you about that I got a trailcam picture of in the run scarfing up the chickens' feed? Ether didn't help. Neither has rat poison underground where the birds can't get at it, so I trained him to dig up worms for me. Had a devil of a time finding a hot collar to fit him, though.

Quote: Yeah, my GNHs took/are taking this long as well. I'm crossing them with my NNs who started laying at 20 weeks, so I'm hoping we'll get some improvement there...

Quote: Ain't it bad enough that you've been feeding them all this time with no return? Why add to it by running up the electric bill? They'll start when nature tells them it's time. Not only do pre-hatch chicks not carry watches, but pullets can't read calendars, either. Besides, aren't RIR's naturally late bloomers, anyway?

Again? Oopsies!

No, I have not seen it. I want to watch it sometime, if it ever comes out in DVD form...

I know I should have. Might have already, except I know nada about gutting, and it would take too long to learn in this cold. Thought of just tossing them to the chooks but that feels wasteful.

I am still undecided, but the breeder that is working with me suggests getting light on them in the latter half of January. They normally need around nine months. Waddles and combs show they are getting closer.
