Quote: Problem: Birds easily flying over 4' fence surrounding their yard; roughly 12'x12'
Wanting to cover it somehow, but want to be able to walk upright (at least in the center), & don't want snow load to gather.

Suggestions?
A tent like shape, with a center pole, and some hardware/ fish/bird net over it.
Definitely thinking along those lines

This sort of netting:

I ordered some a while ago (before I realized how well my roosters took care of alarming for their hens and how well everyone looked after themselves), and then rearranged my plans temporarily, so it's been sitting unused so far. I'll be using it to cover the paddock/run for the growout pens this spring - lots of hawks, and they won't have a big rooster in with them like the other groups. I may also install it over one pen with a chronic "escaper" hen - excellent flier.

(I think you might be able to get it cheaper, though I don't know whether that would be accompanied by a drop in quality. I certainly know you can get it at a much HIGHER price, though, having found this one finally...)

Edit to clarify: You'll need some posts in the ground within the run to hold up the netting or something - you can make them tall enough for you to walk under. Almost all of the ones for sale are large enough to give you sufficient drape down to the top of your 4' fencing, methinks.

I still have a slew of milled fence posts left over from when I had to buy way more than I needed to build fence. Using one already in the run to keep rain & snow from pooling on the overhead tarp...need to add another. I just put a roll on my Amazon list.

I forgot to post! I HAVE 3 CHICKS

A couple other eggs are pipped internally but no other external pips so Tiny is out here bonding with me. She hatched from the tiniest little pullet egg in the hatcher lol.
