Is that silver on the wing tip? Silver doesn't mean it'll have white. Were the toes black?

He has 2ish pink toes, rest are black. Belly is a little bit silver, neck has white. Beak and face are all black. He's just the cutest thing!! :love

Torvi just peeped again :ya

Who has a little giant still air 9300? The one with a red coil box that heats the incubator? I found on on craigslist to cheap to pass up. Ive ran it overnight everything works, but the thermometer i put in there is reading 102 and the themoetor on the incubator reads 99.5. Ive tried removing the red plugs turning the incubator down to 95, nothing is working, is there a way to adjust the thermostat on the incubator on this one, i read a manual that said something about a screw under a wafer but this model doesnt have one, just this red coil box????
I am googling with you, seems your not the only one with that issue. Is this digitally controlled? what unit did you put it do you have a number or name of it? so I can narrow it down?

Sally did I tell you my plan for the OE marans roo I have from you? Going to put him with a blue EE/cochin pullet who's laying a green egg. Hoping to get some full-bodied OEs with feathered shanks.

I need to get a weight on this boy. I think he's bigger than even my HRIR roo.

Great idea!! yes they are not hatchery stock and they are 2nd gens from here too. He is getting quite handsome isnt he! I still love the sapphire roo!!! update pics on him

I didn't get any of that done today - too many other chores. But I have a suspicion. I think stray cats did it. They are in my yard a lot, can't keep them out no matter what I do, and I found a pair of them early this afternoon sitting right by the layer coop and staring at them. I'm thinking they may have worked together against Goodwin. The trail of feathers and other "forensic" evidence doesn't really match something as strong as a fox...

Here's a picture of my rooster from last years NY HAL out enjoying a short free range day.

Love this photo!!! Looks like a nice big colony of century plants there - I'd love to get some of those established in my back yard. The bank down the road has a large old colony, and there are always a few blooming - astounding!!!

Well, I got SOME stuff done, but not enough. I found out that I have tomorrow off, and I'm really dragging from the poor sleep, so I'll work on the brush pile tomorrow instead. (I also have to redo my compost piles as well.) I also need to build my brooders.

SO MUCH TO DO!!!!!!!

On the "SET ALL EGGS" front, I decided to save a bunch of the olive eggs from Arbequina (my sole OE) to do another hatch along with Puppy's eggs (since Puppy seems to have a death wish). By having her cross with Goodwin, all offspring will have at least one blue eggs gene, and some will have two. Then I'll put them back in that coop after moving Monkey (the Splash Copper Marans) in, to darken eggs even further in offspring. I wanted to take the opportunity to benefit from her cross with Goodwin - no idea how many will be fertile, we'll see. But it'll help me work on a consistent olive egger line for eggs - I have really enjoyed the olive eggs and want more!
