Meet Torvi!!

BESTIE, she looks pretty black to me. :fl

I want lots and lots of pics in the morning when they're fluffy.

This is the blackest chick I've ever hatched.

These are the worst marked I've ever hatched. All of these grew in solid black with red combs. The roos got silver hackles when they were mature.

Edit: even the darkest ones can throw silver. I'm working to get the blackest possible, but I almost have to keep them til they're grown before I know.

One of the red-combed cocks was the very best flock guardian. He would escort the pullets to the "secret" nest on the porch and watch over them til they laid, then he'd escort them back. :love

YASS. Lots and LOTS of pics. :highfive:

Exactly!
Randomly divide the egg batch to 2 groups, sanitize one and the other just dipping in clean warm water , and incubate them together and see the % .
The vet college recommend treating the eggs from the ms chickens. Temperature of a hundred must be maintained so as not to send contaminants into the egg. I don't remember what the viricide was. My vet said you could use a kitchen ratio of bleach, but remember the tater temp must be constant let sit for a few seconds and then use individual paper towels to dry, but don't rub.
