EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

Also can't catch up anymore...gonna try to tackle finishing my fancy ice chest incubator... but...
Thanks. Still looking for quality LF Dark Cornish. Although good bantams wouldn't be out of question. Any negatives with your bunch?
(since I did this on mobile version, I can't pick picture quality, hope it's ok)

These two are from Welp... thought they were Bantam originally, but I did want LF myself, and they look to be...one very decent lacing, she's gorgeous, the other not sure if it is horrible lacing or possibly a rooster, though looks hen to me...

Can see the white Laced red (Cornish)to the right also...

Profile Shot (she's usually under my feet when I'm outside but they were eating so the more dominant chickens were causing her to be cautious)

White Laced Red (just in case you like those too, her lacing is messy, but she's what's left of the two I didn't sell, the other passed a day after I sold the other three, dang it)

I have a suggestion for the next time you set eggs:
"Upgrade" you 'bator again by installing a viewing window at eye level as you're laying in bed. You'll still be able to monitor the goings-on inside in the middle of the night, but you won't have to get up & go back to bed. MC can probably give you the details.

If you happen to have a lap top and a webcam (not integrated into the screen lid), I use a web cam that I point down with a towel over to keep condensation down, light aimed in the side...laptop sits to where I can see from my bed :D Then I can fall asleep while watching and pop an eye open through out the night to see. I didn't do that last hatch and one managed to rotate in the shell and suffocate, and another freakin wedged between the flooring and water well below drowning... sucked.

Now! My original reason to show up right now was...

I posted a few months ago a silver chick... was to be a splash Maran... posted a video of it fighting my hand at 3 days old... it did that for a few weeks...spunky full of character little snot that I grew very attached to. I assumed this whole time it's going to be a boy...has to be a boy...comb came up quickly, was pinker than others... well today I think I'm confident enough to say I was wrong... I think I have a beautiful hen...it would be so awesome, since I'm not supposed to have roosters... here "She" is now... @15wks old...

Looks very much hen like. I'll try and get shot of my two DC hens. Pretty small. When I picked them out I didn't look at the type I assumed they were LF

Sugar snap peas and snow peas, silly! They're so yummy!!!

I was going to plant Austrian winter peas for them this fall, but ran into a roadblock when the beds I wanted to use were all invaded with bermuda grass - I will need to dig it all out before the spring planting. Maybe next year...
Quote: Hmmmm... I will note this. Raw?

You know that both Comfrey and Jerusalem artichoke are invasive, right? (Not meaning it's bad to grow them, just to keep an eye on them...) I was looking both of them up online and ran into a number of horror stories.

These guys hatched today and yesterday. The last two eggs are both pipped.

Kari just stepped in the water bowl, peeped in alarm, and sat down on his toes. Silly boy!
You really have missed little ones, haven't you?

Just woke up from an unplanned nap (that happens when you get no sleep the night before). Out to go do chores, and also have a whack at that brush pile...

Whites, my Daisy air gun is loaded and ready!!!!

Practice, and take your time. Soon, it will be 2nd nature.

Hmmmm.....I never thought about the need for the extra kilowatts.
Perhaps with some good battery storage, one could do brooding chicks in an 18 or 24 watt premier brooder heat plate. A 250 watt heat lamp is out of the question.

I've never been to an NFL game. You can see it better on TV for the cost of the electricity, drink whatever you want, get instant replay & commentary, and hit the john w/o needing a GPS to find your seat again, plus there's no drunk behind you spilling beer down the back of your neck.
Much better on TV. That said, I suffered many years with the Cardiac Cardinals. So close and yet so far. I don't know how many games I went to but it was a lot. Most days I remember the depressed drive home. I went to their last game in St. Louis with a buddy and my wife before their heading to Arizona. It was just as depressing.
Arizona was so thrilled to get the Cardinals. I went to Phoenix the following year. Everyone was complaining about the TV blackouts because the games hadn't sold out. I heard comments like, "there were only 300 unsold tickets. Why didn't Bill Bidwill buy out the rest so we could watch on TV."
I said, "he never did that in St. Louis, why would he do that here?"
I had been to a handful of Rams games. One I remember was the NFC championship game against the Vikings during the Greatest Show on Turf era. That was fun.
