Morning Uncle Pen. How goes it?

Good rains for the next two weeks are going to make things interesting around here. 1" yesterday

How old are the ducks?

They were all born/arrived between sept-oct.

So... that old.

1 of my black and gray-spotted ones, are the same age as my 5 turkeys. Some of my ducks, are the same ages as my cochins in one of the picture. who are 3 months?

Some where between 3-5 months old. I sort of have the ducks arrive in stages.

Except the ones I can't seem to sex. The layer 300's I got a mixed run, which I now wish I had them pre-sexed. *faceplant* none of them ACT very manly yet.

The pekins, I got 1 male, 3 females, pre sexed, so despite not knowing which ones the male... I shouldn't have more than 1.

I have a serious Incubation question.... Has anyone here changed a 1202 from wafers to electronic thermostat?

Did you leave the back up ( safety) wafer in or not?


I have two I need to change and the directions say a wafer in the series can make it fail, but no back up seems dangerous.

your leaving a wafer for electronic in a gfq??

What type electronic?

Please read these both links have people that have left a wafer to back up the digital, also I suggest using a good digital and researching that. The cheap STC work but I read so many issues with stability with them because of getting a probe location correct and stuff.. So dont spend cash until you know what kind is best , I run all my bators on a single wafer, have yet to replace any of them.
