Nice meal you had. How is the pile project?

As for the pile, It's back to work now, so I'm back to suffering from the "no light left" issue. I barely had time to get the water changed after work before all the birds went to bed. Too much to do at work, too much to do at home... Argh!!!

I found this on my way out....down to 9 now, assuming none of the others got taken. What in the world would kill, in broad daylight (unless it happened last night before I put them up) and only eat the neck, leaving the rest untouched? Feathers scattered over a 10' area...one of my pullets.

About the leaking roofing

I found a great product for sealing up metal roofing to preserve it and keep water out. I can get the name if anyone wants it.

OK, Day 14 today, so I got weights and candled. All 10 GNH NN cross eggs are doing fantastic, all kicking like crazy, air cells right on target, as are weights. They are in the Brinsea, running an extremely stable 100.4F, 35% humidity. I love this thing.

HOWEVER... Marans eggs in the R-Com have been at 50-55% (calibrated) humidity, and the air cells have still grown SO MUCH MORE!!! One of them has now lost 19.5%! What the heck is wrong with these eggs/shells?! In candling, the air cells match the weights. Looks like there's "stuff" in there, but too hard to see whether they are alive - too hard to see veins. The temperature in the R-Com is bouncing around way too much for my liking, though I don't believe it's been in the death zone (though I suppose it could have been in the night). I have the humidity cranked up to the highest it will go (70% by the setting on the incubator). Not much else I can do, is there? Should I wet the eggs or something? This is crazy...

(sigh)

Maybe it wasn't meant to be. We'll see, I suppose.

me too, I am so glad that I let the pair or crele free in the goat and kid yard this morning, that gave the dog somethign to chase and I think the goats saved goose or vice versa, the dog wouldnt come back in the yard or even go close to the goats and they had goose in the middle of them, was really amazing to be honest, I freaked about my goose ran out in my pjs, yes had them on most the day lol, but thank God she was fine, I realize how much I like her, a bit more than I thought!!
