EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

I never can figure out how the chicken poop gets between my foot and the sole of the flip flop. Think I would learn my lesson by now and stop wearing flip flops to the coop, but no... I'm a glutton for punishment apparently!

I just plain gave up on wearing shoes and rinsed my feet off in the duck pool before going inside....

Due to having to be at work in the mornings I wear shoe covers to keep them clean. Even that isn't enough sometimes. Especially with the rain we've been having. Darn that's some slippery stuff. Sometimes I get to work and discover I'm farm fresh. :sick

In the summer I only wear shoes (flip flops of course) if it's been raining and muddy. Other than that, I'm barefoot lol. A hose works just fine to rinse off chicken poo

I have either pull on boots (water chores) or plastic clogs (everything else) by the door for coop work, and one other pair of shoes that I will wear int he back yard but never int eh coops. Work shoes never get worn in the back yard period.

I'm too much of a tenderfoot to go barefoot. I'd never get anything done. Bad enough just taking the garbage out barefoot. 10 times longer to get things done.

I will wear flip flops if I'm going anywhere in the yard except the path to the chickens.... There are occasionally nails and assorted sharp objects in my yard, and flip flops give a 1/2 inch cushion so it doesn't hurt too much.

Somehow, I have managed to get chicken poop on every single pair of shoes I have. Even slippers and dress shoes.

When doing more than feeding I have a pair of shoes just for the coops. Feeding in the morning with covers usually goes ok. I've had some very near falls from slipping the past couple days though. Love the rain but it's slicker than, well you know
