They are not perfect, but have you tried Yaktrax?Ice was so thick here one year that I couldn't stomp a hole in it to get traction, but I had to make it down the hill to water the dogs. By holding onto saplings along the way, I was able to get down, but couldn't get any footing to make it to a sapling on the way back. I hollered to DW to throw me a rope, but she couldn't find one, so she threw me one of the heavy extension cords so I could pull myself back to level ground.
Quote: Not sure if I have or not, but I've at least tried similar products. They always seem to fall off my boots. Maybe I need golf shoes
I didn'tHey CH
So why did you decide to go there?
Check out the ice truckers in AK. Now that is crazy! What?? we all do that, some places driving across the lake is faster than going around it. Lots of the cabins on islands have all their lumber and cement delivered over the ice.
The ice gets 3-4 ft thick, it would hold a 747. We have ice houses (fish houses) the size of campers with slide outs and everything that are pulled by one ton trucks out on the ice, holes drilled and people live in the fish house for a few months fishing through the floor.
The have TV. stoves, fridges, furnace's and AC.
here is one I grabbed at random off Craigslist.
