EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

I have 3 dozen eggs for sale, I just pulled them from the incubator, but I am willing to let some one else see if they can do better with them.. Mixed breeds. Toads, Cuckoo Marans. Partridge Chanticler to name a few....

They have only been in for 14 days so if you do decide to buy them at this bargain rate you only need to incubate them for 7-8 days more.

Also would make a great omelet!

I just got back from going to BOTH big box home improvement stores in my area. At least here, Home Depot has much better lumber and plywood and hardware cloth options (plus very nice people who will cut plywood to size for you), Lowes has better hardware bits and bobs and they have the folding 6ft table I'm building my brooders on. I am exhausted... (I hate shopping, especially the mega materials, make-it-all-fit-in-my-car type of trip.) But at least I have everything I need to build THREE of the big 6x3 brooders like the one below (with no divider, though). This will give me lots of options for the chicks growing out and coming, and also allow me to keep them inside longer if I need to because of weather. (They could actually double as a small breeding pen for a pair, I suppose, though that's not a lot of space...)

You know, with the right water set up at one end, with catch pans, one of these could serve as a waterfowl brooder...

I need to go lay down for a minute, to get over the Lowes-Home Depot brain drain, then... chores!!!!!

Breakdown on those still going:

6 Dominiques

13 Legbars

6 Yokohama

2 cuckoo Maran

1 speckled Sussex

11 toads.

all the Polish and Partridge chanticleer were bad. I am afraid I need to change roosters on the PC...Which is too bad because I really like the one I have in there, and my backup is his Son.

or 41 but some are doubtful.

Nobody wants to help me keep procrastinating over things I should be doing, I guess... *Sigh*

Okay, I admit it, I 'm a biker chick. I got my endorsement about 5 years ago and own a VTR 250 that I admit I don't ride much mainly because of a bad neck and crazy cager moms in SUVs talking on their cellphones almost running you off the road. I also have a Zuma 70cc that I use to ride on errands around the community. I dropped an upgrade cylinder in it myself under my husband's watchful eye. He used to race motorcycles. My big love is my Honda CR 150 and my TTR-125 dirt bikes. Yes, I am 63.5 years old and I trail ride on dirt bikes. I even told my doctor to expect me in sometime with a broken collarbone or ankle. His response was 'you go girl!' I am not a typical senior citizen. I am a crazy chicken lady/biker chick!

Nope, sorry. Off to do chores.

Awwww....
I'm too busy procrastinating over here.  ;)
