EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

Since the incubator we made isn't currently running I decided to see how many eggs it will hold, it holds more than I thought it would. I thought it would hold about 2 dozen but it'll hold 30 duck eggs with some wiggle room.

That is convenient, less trips to the compost pile if you can take 30 at a time....

Never heard of such a thing! Why? Why not jugs? Can't be an environmental thing; bags & jugs are both plastic. I assume you're not using paper bags!
Bags use less plastic. It's more of a culture thing now.

And paper bags?? Um, NOPE.

We get jugs, but have thought about making the change. Bags are not as available as jugs are. Locally we can only get them at the "Qwik Trip" store, a gas station/convenience store. The milk is quite a bit cheaper in the bags, however, you have to buy a pitcher made to take the bags to use them. It the station was closer We would probably get one. It is not on a route we routinely use.

When I went to Jamaica several years back the milk was in bags and on shelves not even in a fridge. That was weird , I thought.

I guess I've led a sheltered life! I hope the machines are refrigerated, at least. How does the customer determine freshness?
It's owned by the dairy farmer, the cows are usually in the shed behind the machine building. I hear them moo-ing when I go and the milk is ice cold when it comes out. It's basically like a soda fountain but it dispenses milk.

The vision I get in my head is not good of this. I see a cow with a milking machine standing in a freezer behind the vending machine waiting for you to drop your buck in, so she can let a glass out. Poor Cow.
