I was too sick to drink coffee yesterday, and I was told that if I didn't drink coffee today, I was being rushed to the hospital!

Decaf.............I'm telling ya once you're over the caffeine part it's really pretty good.

Goodnight all! I gotta go crash. Not looking forward to the morning - I was told at a doctor appt that I'm drinking too much coffee and that's probably why my headaches had gotten worse. I can still drink it, just not as much. This is going to hurt... 

Question regarding temperatures:

I have four thermometers in my still air incubator. They are a digital one with a hydrometer, a metal one that came with the incubator (from about 2001), an outdoor weather station therm with hydrometer, and a flat one you put of the eggs. All reading 100-101.3 Or so. I've even tested a laser therm and it read around 99.

I put the flat therm on top of the eggs, out of curiosity, and it read 106! I need suggestions! Is that normal?

This is my third attempt at hatching recently and have not been successful with the other two. The last batch had formed chicks with unabsorbed yolks.the first batch was a humidity error.

I hatched when I was younger (2000-2001) and never had as many issues. Actually I never had any issues and good hatch rates.

Welcome! Have you calibrated them? Unlikely they're all off the same amount, but would be worth a check. Temperature should be 101.5 at the top of the eggs, so 106 (if accurate) would be cooking them.

That's awesome! My incubators don't have the cooling option so I've never tried it but I was very nervous about my broody's eggs out there. Granted, she doesn't stay off her eggs for an hour but with temps in the 20s and 30s, I worried for the 20-30 minutes that she was off every morning that they'd get too cold. All 4 of her eggs are looking great and are due in less than a week now

Wow guess I was worried for nothing. Temps in house was 68 so the swing wasn't that bad.

Decaf isn't so bad, once you get past the initial caffeine withdrawals.

I still look forward to my decaf every morning!
