Skeeters are so big here I saw one carry off a large duck one day. Too bad Ralphie wasn't here to see it.

I have seen the mosquitoes here take adult eagles right out of the air, with a raccoon in the eagles talons..To bad I could not have gotten that on tape for you...

I keep a water heater in a 55 gallon of water in the barn.  I just throw them in the water and I can dump them out in 30 minutes or so.

I do not have running water in the barn right now, the pipe to the barn broke and I need to replace it so I fill the barrels on the warm days and use a stock tank heater in them.

If I need the rubber dishes de-iced immediately I have the WWD  jump on them, she weighs about 2 tons...

We are in such different climates, I doubt anything you do would work here. That Ice cube would not melt here without 5,000 gallons of boiling water poured over it...

I get that. Usually I have about 3 months like that but not this year.

Advice on chicken care should only be taken from someone that lives in comparable climates.
I caution people to take what is written in chicken magazines with a grain of salt for that very reason.
