question if one were to wire bottom a day olds chick brooder, what size would you use that wouldnt cause foot or leg issues. I am reminded of CH hatch and the chick leg issues..... thanks

I would think 1/4" would work.

I used the 1/4 inch and built it up on the top of a 2x4 so I can reach under it to clean the waste out, which is 80% feed!

But you need a steel grill type brush to scrape and push the poop through the wire now and then.

smallest HWC spacing you can get...1/4". Although mine's 1/2" & hasn't been an issue, but I haven't brooded Seramas, either

Manual stimulation. Ensure sufficient restraint to prevent the beast from moving
away during the procedure. Gently massage the skin under the vulva
(escutcheon) in an upward motion. In most cases this will result in urine flow in
one minute. Collect several milliliters of urine. Use a clean, dry, urine cup (or
similar receptacle) as a sampling container. Try to collect urine mid-stream. Use
a clean technique to minimize exposure to feces, dust, and insects. After
collection, place urine at room temperature protected from direct sunlight,
moisture and insects.
