Hi All..
I have not read back just wanted to say a quick "Hi" I still have hours of work ahead of me....Poor me...
And to brag,,,, I just turned on my 4th incubator, by next week at this time I should have 1,000 eggs in the machines, Unless I am slow putting them in like today and the hatcher empties before I get the trays loaded and if the weather stays good..
Also I lost my first chick of the year today, A little Cuckoo Maran, I had been doing so good I was afraid to say anything, and jinx myself... And I have not had to set one DUX egg to fill the machines!
I want a goat! Maybe 10. The WWD is anti-goat.
I feel I should update and make some minor changes to my bragging...It appears I did a beginner chicken incubation thing and counted my chickens before they hatched..
I candle the eggs for the 6th and threw away 64 eggs. I kept 36 of the 36 25 might hatch the others are too dark to see in or I am doing a "hail Mary".
What I have left :
6- Dominiques
3- toads
1- Maran ( I am willing to bet against it hatching)
5- Yokohama
5 Polish ( I really had to use my imagination to make 2 of them good)
16 legbars
When candling before washing I found 18 frozen eggs. Of the ones I set a good 25% have yolk problems or air sac problems. Another "hail Mary" Hatching in Winter in Minnesota Vacuums.
I set:
19 Doms
19 Yokohams
15 "frost white Legbar
13 Polish
5 toads
14 Partridge Chanticler
1 Turkey
3 Speckled Sussex
4 Cuckoo Marans
1 Appletini....
Which means I will hatch 13 birds on the 24th., Oh and I unplugged the incubator I just started. I might not need it until May.
