EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

Can't say I've ever had to do that.... Wow...

It's on my bucket list.

You do that to protect from the heat. The less "sun" that hits your skin, the lower your body temp. Infact, if you get a muslin cloth, you can wrap it around your head and the breeze will go through it, and if you sweat at all, it acts almost like a mini swamp cooler, to cool you off.

I love "kids" LOL

I asked my husband for a nubian doe/billy for valentines day..... Who needs jewelry?

Oh, I use dog crates too. I have 2 large ones connected together in the screen porch to make a large brooder. It has older babies in it right now that will get moved outside in a few days. There's another dog crate on top of that with a couple little show girls and silkies which will rotate down to the big brooder once the older ones go outside. I have 1 more crate with a breeding pair of silkies in it. I'm now out of crates lol
I use a pig play pen, and put some bird netting over it like you put over bushes. I secure it with clothes pins.

Yup - and linen is amazing as well. It's a temperature thing. Once it gets above 98.6F, then as long as you keep the ability to evaporate your sweat, you're keeping the "cooler" air close to you. Evolutionarily, it's been hypothesized that our original characteristic that distinguished us as a species (before we ever learned to make tools or cook and before agriculture) is precisely the fact that we are hairless and have the ability to run in the heat for miles and miles and miles. Which allowed groups to cooperate as a pack to run other animals down in the savannah....
Nother egg from Chrissy today. I love your eggs, lil girl, but you need to keep some nutrients for yourself!

Can you cook and feed back to her?
