I sure hope our current administration changes this new FDA ruling about having a vet script for injectables. Pain in the rear even though all I do is call my farm vet. Just a pain in the rear for both of us. I was making an order to Valley Vet but had to call to get the scripts on file first. Valley Vet then needs the birthdate of the animals you are treating..... Are you kidding me? I have hundreds of animals..... . Then they asked the following: Her breed is, Angus. Her color is, Black. She is not neutered. Her name is, Ribeye Medium Rare.
Quote: @tedschickens , welcome to BYC! Can you post some pictures of the leg? Why do you think it need antibiotics?

Like you, I'm wanting to do my own turners in cabinets. However, since I tend to overthink things, I want to have a couple different controls in the same incubator for staggered hatches so I can turn more frequently the first 15 days than later.I'm trying to wrap my head around how to do an automagical turner. I'd like to do one like this, but larger. What kind of motor would I need? (The more specific the better) I assume I could just put it on a timer, and have it run until it does a full turn, then have it turn off.
I'm buying one for myself to wear to my chicken classes next month. I think it explains the issue better than the spoken word.Oh, yeah, permethrin! Tried that too! Didn't work for me!
Oh, I so want that shirt! Chicken math! Think it will fit...my address is...![]()
Prayers to both!
Ok,I am done trying to catch u, you guys post faster than I read...
MORNING!!!
I am in the middle of the weeks hatch. I had to help a little legbar out. I will never understand why most birds hatch with no problems and another one has heat wrap shrinking in the same 70% humidity and next to each other. The poor little girl as really tight in her cocoon.
I have a little Dom that is not long for the world. She hatched herself but her yolk is still outside the body and it might have broken it looks like a runny over easy egg in her hole of the carton.
This thread is amazing thank you. I am new to hatching and can use all the info I can get. Since I'm here can I ask if anybody can direct me in the right direction regarding antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medications for newborn chick? I have made toast and hijacked a few other people's post because I wasn't getting any responses LOL but I'm so desperate for help and I'm going to my panicky new chicken mama phase! I have a chick that I thought had spay leg, leg going almost straight back. After doing research and paying her little legs together with the brace I realize that the left foot was twisted slightly towards the body and the foot was not completely touching the ground. So I read about the slip tendon and tried to feel around but it was too swollen so I taped it with a Band-Aid and part of the Band-Aid stuck to her skin and although I tried to be very gentle I believe I may have taken a little bit of skin off or maybe the world was there before I'm not sure. Anyway I am now working for any advice or success stories. I would like to start her on antibiotics and anti-inflammatory but I'm not sure what is safe for newborn chicks and Google has a lot of mixed reviews so they come here hoping that the experts can help me. Thank you !!!!![]()
