EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

Close enough, I suppose. :(

ANYwho, I am a member of a "buying club" that gets food and products directly from local farmers - this arrangement allows us to, for instance, be able to buy raw cow's milk here legally (per Texas laws) and I don't have to drive to the farm to do it. Wonderful for making cheese and yogurt. Well, I just found out.... (drum roll) we will now be able to get fresh raw goat milk every week!!!!!!!!! :celebrate

Great news!!!!!

I know. Did you want goose eggs from me last year??

I did, but I am leaning toward Debbie eggs now :hide

I think I should warn you for the sake of your cats...I am a notorious liar.....

Speaking of cats, If someone gives you 2 cats and 2 days later one runs away, is it proper to ask for another cat?
unmmmm may want to find another source

I haven't ever heard of Debbie eggs? Care to share what they are.

I was wondering about that...

BTW I am feeling pretty good with myself to think someone would think I would actually talk to an egg.....

My chicks start talking to me at day 15.  I spend a good 20 minutes twice a day talking to them from day 14 on.

:smack That's the voices in your head!

Now that I wouldn't find abnormal at all. I've been talking to mine since I turned them the first time.

People think I am crazy because I talk to my birds like they are human, talking to an egg would be one straw to many..

Of course, I spend more time with my birds than I spend with any human.

Banti, you're worrying me, since you have minks in your area. Do you have gaps larger than 1/2" closed up somehow?

:weee

:lau

I may very well die of cuteness!!!!!!
@BantyChooks
, should we add/pin this in the info regarding not giving up on cooled eggs?

I got some stuff done - ran out of light, But I did get to spend about 10 minutes with each set of chicks - I've been trying to consistently do that to get them accustomed to me, since there are several different groups. I want them to be easy to handle. Monkey got his feet soaked again (he gets his belly wet, too, so we have to dry off and blow dry, but I want to somehow rig something so his tummy doesn't get wet each time, some sort of thing he can sit on and his legs go through a hole and into the medicated water. At least he seemed to like being blown dry. :D

- Ant Farm

No. It's impossible- I've tried.

The door was set on its hinges as such there is a 1" gap. I prop stuff up against it to help, but still....

And there is chicken wire in the back window that I never got replaced :he

Not to mention the vents along the top of the roof.... They're covered in a tarp tho....
And there are holes in the walls that I patched, but are still weak. This coop falls apart more every week.

Yes, thanks for tagging me!

:hu I do.

I spoke to a person today, A real life human, A woman even.

She drove up my drive, past the "Keep Out" Biosecurity Area signs..... Past the "Employees only beyond this point" sign and walked through the door into my Pole barn with the "No Admittance, Biosecurity area, keep out"...

She then came face to face with Bert. and I heard a scream. Followed by "GD that is one big chicken"....

Teach her to not read...

Not for me. Not with 4 dogs, 5 cats and 35 chickens, 11 eggs in the incubator and a very understanding husband who does talk to the cats and dogs the same as I do. I'm working on him with the chickens.
