i think lice are worse!!! I got birds from a great breeder and they had mites.one spray of frontline and no more mites!!! I heard this elector just drops them dead and quick. we will see. i have both plus frontline. i wasnt screwing around with this!!!

I hope everyone has had a good day. Fire and echo got to go outside for the first time today. We left them after a few hours, and will soon be back to feed. I am nervous like a mom sending her kid off by themselves for the first time

Ew. Yeah, bugs are yucky. I need to do a health check on mine and plan to castor oil all their legs as I suspect at least some in other coops have scaly leg mites. I'll clip nails and spurs and check for body mites at the same time. I was originally going to do it tonight, but Monkey and me had a rough evening with the leg soak - it practically turned into a bath - and I'm too beat. I discovered that he had scabs on BOTH feet (the other one was between his toes on the other foot). After three days of soaking and this SolvaKer stuff, and him walking on sweet PDZ in his hospital wing (which was drying as well as soft), I was able to coax the scabs off (non surgically) - only one bled, and no gook underneath that I can see. I'll keep it up a few more days, just in case, and then castor oil his legs and take him back out. He enjoyed being blown dry, but both of us were miserable with my bandaging attempts.My worst nightmare as a chicken owner has finally come true..... Poultry liceI can handle blood guts puke poop sputum but not liceI bought permetherin and Elector PSP even though it was ridiculously expensive. Tried the permetherin first but was gagging from the smell-just like gasoline fumes. Felt like it was an impossible project to tackle-mostly by myself and one handed. Came up with a system that made it a little more streamline but still disgusting. Laureen is in Vegas so i am hoping she will be back tomorrow and help me with whatever I cant do myself. The wrist say no more tonight so I will enjoy a bottle of wine and live to fight again tomorrowany suggestions or treatment that have worked for any of you-please share. I am bat chit crazy right now with my skin crawling!!!
