I'm just in a pickle. I set up a pen with my blue-egg layers, EEs and a legbar, but I'm getting g a brown egg in there. It's either the EE or the legbar, and both are troubling. I'm getting a big blue egg from the layer coop, but no idea who is laying it. Lots of EEs over there.
It was just a fun project, but I really hate it when my plans don't work.
I would look at the EE's first. I have 40 ish legbars and have had more and never had a brown egg from one. I have some EE that lay a brown egg. But I mess with their genetics all the time to see the shades I can get.
I only kept this EE because of her blue egg, so if it's her brown egg then she's not long for this farm. Question - if I just wanted *1* giniea - would that be bad? would it be upset by the chickens, ducks and turkeys? would all the other birds hate it? LOL
My legbar is from Sally and might not be true, if it was a project. I can't remember.I only kept this EE because of her blue egg, so if it's her brown egg then she's not long for this farm.![]()
I like playing for shades, too! I just don't have the room this year. I'm struggling to get the RIR into their own pen. It's just a mess.
Was that a hint?![]()
