EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

Liz, not quoting that, but thanks for notifying me about Kathy's post that I missed.

Might just have the neighbour shoot her, not worth the time and money to get her healthy and then give her away. She's a real horrid layer too.

So, I had to get feed today. I should NOT have stopped at the chick bins.
They don't actually have babies yet, buut I may or may not have picked up a special order list. They're apparently doing the special order again this year!! :celebrate
They've expanded breeds and sexes available by leaps and bounds.

Also, they now have a HUGE selection of ducks available, including runners in all different colours and welshies. I'm doomed.
My resolution is now to resist as long as I can rather than resist entirely.

heat pumps have come a LONG way in the last 10 years, they cost a lot to purchase but are SUPER efficient now, my little brother in law put one in, and we are thinking about putting a couple in

do you know where he ran across it???

He said he'd give me all the info later he said he'd researched all sorts of methods, and it just happened that he found an easy-2-minute-feather remover/plucker method that wasn't mentioned anywhere else.

Just came ftom work and discovered that I have a wall-student in my class! I sometimes get more frustrated than normal, when I discover that all my efforts, time and energy that I invested in teaching a subject is usles! Sometimes people can be EXTREMELY stupid! :he :he

On behalf of the math/science challenged, I apologize. I gave tons of good teachers awful headaches because of my inability to get it. But it wasn't for lack of effort. I also failed a media law class because I couldn't keep dates and cases straight. Luckily my study partner vouched for me, so the prof knew I was truly trying and not just unprepared.

ok I give up, I cant read back its just too much

what I miss?

Me! :frow :hugs

Thanks for the help everyone. I only lost 3 out of the 15. I really don't even like to lose one! But at least everyone is doing well now. And I was able to get Nutri trench finally! I really like that product. I should have had it on him before the chicks came but I didn't have all of my chicks in a row!

I have a question..... I am anxious to integrate my young pullets in with my older birds. The older birds are 5 months - 2 hens and 1 rooster. Plus 2 guineas- breeding pair also juvenile. My pullets are 10 weeks old but only 1/2 the size of the older ones. When can they must be one flock. I am nervous because I have seen older birds kill younger ones but when is it safe.

I should add that the amount of pulleys is 15. There are 2 young rooster. Also I have 2 Cochin batsman in the coop in a cage. This is an integration attempt. How long do they need to stay caged inside the coop? It is a breeding pair also. The Cochin baby is so nice and crows. He is actually fast for a Cochin baby but does not have dew claws.

He won't get spurs for quite a while.
You can integrate slowly by letting the two groups see each other for a week, then put together at night. Considering that there are a lot of newbies, I'd trust it now.
