Quote: You don't need to buy it. Get yourself a piece of cardboard or something that is as wide as duct tape (or maybe a teeny bit wider) and a couple inches long (as long as you want the final flat-pack to be), and then just wrap your duct tape around on it. Folks do this all the time for hiking - you can also wrap it around any other implement you may carry all the time (folks do it for water bottles, tools, whatever makes sense for you).
Yeah, the flies are already out here as well.Sorry Ralphie it's 75 here already. Not too happy about it. Flies are out traps are set. One more chicken chore then starting inside stuff.![]()
That's super cool! The drinking water bottles from the store are like that.Banti, made a DIY feeder.
Waterer needs to be higher, but I'll have to do that later. I made one cut around on the Hawaiian punch jug and folded it in. Ran a bead of glue around the cut edges. Waterer is a thin fruit juice bottle that shredded and ripped when I tried to screw the nipples in. So they are THOROUGHLY glued.![]()
After my chicken chores were done, about 1:30, I was feeling kinda tired, so I thought, hey, I'll just rest my eyes a little before getting back to work. I woke up at 5:30.So I finished the evening brooder and chicken chores. I never seem to get enough sleep...![]()

@Sally Sunshine - I have tons and tons and tons of grass here. Does Gooserz want a little vacation to come down here?![]()
Well, I'd better head back outside - the older chicks still haven't figured out to go to bed on the roost so I have to place them every night. Hope they figure it out soon.

Pretty much the same. Too cold to mess around outside, so I just hung around trying to keep the stove fed.

Nice picture. Done for the day. Not as much done as I wanted but that's typical lately. 78* today. It's supposed to be back in the low 60's and raining Friday. Chicken math down by 16 over the last two weekends need to do 3 more of the rare roosters will check structure this weekend yet. Then I'll have three pens of 4 hens and one rooster each.Three of the little ones (all pullets) have figured out the "Go sit on the roost at bedtime" thing. I had to put up all the rest, mostly the boys. As I was doing so, the expression on the three pullets' faces said it all: "You idiots..."Harvested the lettuce for my dinner salad by headlamp. Pretty night out, big full moon.
