I have never understood the WWD.

She likes me to keep my things neat and clean. I always keep them clean, I sterilize my hatcher and the trays. I am guessing it is best I do this earlier in the day.

Normally I have the cleaning done well before the WWD gets home from work.

I was busy cleaning them when she got home. This is what she saw:

Some how this was bad, I do not understand it.

The first thing out of her mouth was " what are you doing?

I told I was cleaning the trays...

She wanted to know "And how long have you cleaned them in my bathtub?"

She did not seem satisfied when I said about 2 years. Why would she ask a question if she knew the answer would upset her?

I am so confused. I am doing what she likes keeping things nice and clean....and she is upset....

I don't get why she's so mean to a nice guy like you, you were just trying to keep stuff clean...

PS. I don't suppose you bleach the tub afterwards?

Why would I?
Well, there ya go....

Today's lesson in "101 reasons why your wife is mad" is as follows:

If your wife is mad because she has walked in on you cleaning stuff in the tub, the proper answer is "Yes dear, I promise I will bleach and clean everything after I am done, and I promise you will never find me doing something like this again."

Then, dump a little bleach in the tub so you can say you did it and remember to finish the job before she comes home from work next time. And don't bother with the bleach all the times after that, if she doesn't catch you she'll never know....

Had the power not went off she would not have caught me today..So it ain't my fault...

I thought you all would like to see my first brooder bunch at 2 weeks of age!

They are growing into fine little youngsters, so far all of them healthy and friendly. No new eggs in the incubator yet but I have an 8 month old broody happily sitting on 8 more bantam eggs that are due to hatch next week.

Duluthralphie, I don't see what the fireworks are all about. You are using hot water and soap aren't you? Hot water and soap kill germs and clean the bathtub at the same time. I'd kiss my husband if he cleaned anything in the shower!

It's called a staggered hatch and it can be a pain in the backside. If I were you I would IMMEDIATELY block off your broody so you can stop the others from laying in her nest. If they have already done that, I'd be prepared with an incubator to take over when the new mom leaves her nest with her new babies because she will leave any eggs that aren't hatched in favor of caring for her babies. You can always return the late hatchers to mom after they hatch (preferably at night) or brood them yourself.

Good luck! There is a broody hen thread that you can pop in and take a look at and I imagine there is a broody thread for geese and ducks also. Exciting time! Enjoy!
