I have decided to follow the @Auroradream26 method of chick hatching. Call me Jess from now on.


I put my eggs for this Thursday in the hatcher last night around 5pm. I was slower than normal in placing them in the hatcher. I always have placed them on Tuesday afternoon so far this season. When I placed them I had the one Turkey egg that had pipped...Which puts me waaaaaaaay into Jess territory. I went to look today and I have Chicks in 2 out of 5 trays. These chicks should not be here until tomorrow evening.

They are my EE's They are a day and a half early. The turkey egg has not changed.

I have too many mugs, and keep giving them away. The thing is, the ones left are all favorites on different days. So I have a full cabinet, and the current one has never been put away.

Sometimes I end up foam cupping it. It doesn't make sense to put much glass wear in this home for at least a couple years.

I don't think you need to spray them unless you open it. If your humidity is low can you add water without opening?

I use mugs in the barn and outside in the hopes of breaking or losing them, Well not hoping, but not minding them getting lost or broken.

Mugs like to mate and reproduce. I am hoping to remove the weaker dumber mugs from the gene pool. We do not need more of them, we have them in cupboards and in boxes. I am thinking of opening a hunting season on them to try and control their numbers.

X2? I usually just toss a damp paper towel in rather than spraying. It's easier.
