Scrambled Egg?

Ok all I could find in town are the 600 mg pills. They seem big to make a hen swallow it. I do have a pill cutter. Catching her will not be fun

It's not too big, you can just stick it in her beak and she'll swallow it just fine.

As for catching her, grab her off the roost at night, that's the easiest way

Had the same thoughts initially, but Frost is right. It might take a couple attempts if she spits it out. Gently pull down on the wattles to open her mouth and just pop it in.

I see the 600mg versions recommended most for large fowl, but they can be a little harder to find (at least in my area). Hope it does the trick!

My chickens do not appreciate being handled at all, so I don’t pill them.

I crush the caplets with the back of a spoon and mix them in with Sheba cat food, which comes in itty-bitty packets. Silly-expensive if that were our cat food (we’d need 6-8/day 🫣), but perfect for this.

The Cat is quite irked that sometimes the chickens get fancy wet cat food, while she’s never had it in her life. 😾

Since I have 600 mg Ca citrate, I just give them every other day if a girl needs a boost. When a new layer had some shell hiccups, I think I gave it 2 days in a row, skipped a day, and then gave it one day, and by then she didn’t need it.

Chucking antibiotics at every minor issue that might possibly be a bacterial infection is the reason we're having increasing issues with antibiotic resistance.
