EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

My eggs are day 24, no pipping, but still movement... How long do I wait?! I want babies!! I know this isn't normal, but how abnormal is it??? Not that it probably matters, but they are Welsummer eggs and Rock eggs...

There are several reasons for a late hatch. I know it's nerve wracking, but it's possible all is still well since they are active.
You can always start a pip, and go from there.

Well, it's certainly warmer here! You'd be welcome! :thumbsup  (I'm boring, it's kajira who has interesting animals and kids. )

You are more interesting than you think!

Nope. No bedtime tonight. Probably gonna be up chatting with eggs all night. They are still at it.

There is an entire disciplines in medicine that deals exactly with THIS problem!

Despite this being the "Education" thread and knowledge is power, I know many here do not believe in "science". Well be careful about what you wish for. Well along with slashing the EPA by 31 percent (because environment is not important - I mean, who needs clean air to breath or uncontaminated water to drink), the new government plans to slash the NIH (National Institutes of Health) budget by 19% . Does the new administration realize that public universities are staffed by, and most professors are paid by NIH grants? Professors do not get paid to teach students - Teaching is "university service" that you do for free. What will happen is that the people that teach in universities will leave and either go into industry (yea drug companies pay well and many will do anything to get their untested products into the market regardless if safe or not), or they will join the "brain drain" out of the US to countries that appreciate their dedication. That will be sure to "make the USA great again". And University education will be available only for the super rich kids who parents are lets face it- the ones that are going to benefit from the tax cuts, because it is not going to be helping the people in the lowest income brackets like small time homesteaders who are the salt of the earth. Sounds great for NIH budget to be slashed and save all that money until you get heart disease and need an operation, or cancer and want the best treatment, or you want to send your hard working kid to a public college without you having to sell the farm to do it. Maybe it is all part of the plan. Less well off people get sick and die much younger and then they don't have to draw on social security -PERFECT- makes the numbers look better!! http://www.the-scientist.com/?artic...FddW1pjkJ5vLiVqidAl1UlJdPP0ybg&_hsmi=46072206 I teach in a public university and am paid (on grants) about 1/10 what I could get in private practice because I believe it is the right thing to do. Now I may have no choice.
Ignorance is one of the grate killers around,....... I am really sorry that your knowledge, Education and experience aren't being appreciated, AS THEY REALLY SHOULD! but you should know, (and I am sure you are!) That you're knowledge and experience are the REALLY inalienable assets that you have! Assets that NO one can take from you! So I am sure you will flourish in the future! And F..... THE SYSTEM THAT DON'T APPRECIATE PEOPLE LIKE YOU!

My bloodhound is driving me CRAZY. Great pyr is in heat, but she's luckily got no interest in boys her first heat cycle, but man, oh man, is floppy dog interested in her. I finally had to throw him out of the house and ban him to the kennels because I couldn't take his pacing anymore.

As of last night a few more are still trying, but we have 96 chicks. Most of them are Easter Eggers with a few Heritage Rhode Islands Reds, and three Hona.
@BantyChooks(Thanks again for the links. I have been speaking to someone about Mama heating pad, and wanted to send them pictures.)

All 4 of the little chicks are doing well!!! :O I cannot believe I finally got a 100% hatch/survival rate! :O not sure what I did differently this time, besides not having shipped eggs/ too small pullet eggs.

I'm loving my little itty bitty cochin. I love Star and her mom white fluff so much, I wanted a few more from them.

Gather Your Materials. You need a wide-mouth half-gallon Mason jar with a metal lid, 6 feet of food-grade 1/4 inch plastic tubing, a plastic T to split the tubes, 2 1 ...
I don't know, but gave up the cheap one are hard on the udder, and with only a few goats it was more work to clean than to just do it by hand
