EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

Actually when I have weak or reluctant to eat chicks I use the trick of hot mash with poultry nutri drench on top of it. They literally go bezerk ! But I thought I would hurt them to feed them being chicks too much wet feed. It is good to know that it won't hurt them. Sometimes though when they do eat that in the past they open their mouth wide to swallow like it is getting stuck in their throat.

its not just wet feed, its fermented
and they will drink water after to help it go down

I had the same thought and gave them a scrambled egg to eat and also added kibble form the feed store. Have you seen it before ? It has dried salmon and mealworms and greens and other yummy goodies. I mixed that in with their feed per package directions. They loved it but ..... dragged it all onto the ground. I really think the main perpetrator is the little lavender orpington 1 Love the downspout feeder ! I think my industrious orpington just may manage to find a way to empty it ! She is outrageous ! Ohh and I added chick grit to the feed also and sometimes just put it out in a jam jar lid. That Favorelle hen sits there and eats so much grit.

Oh the brooder ... is at 80 because of the youngest in the brooder . But I did add to the size of the brooder and there is now plenty of cooler area for her to enjoy.

You can even use your doctor ,dentist , chiropractor or pastor as a character reference. But most reasonable employers will want to interview you and talk with you. If they do not have any compassion or understanding then you probably wouldn't want to work for them any way.

I actually do not have them in a coop. I am in a juggle with my in between girls who are 12 weeks old ( 15 of them ). So they need to get big enough to be with their friends the Rhode Island Reds( 3 - and BIG ) and Guineas ( 2). I have tried to integrate them but they are just too much smaller in comparison. So I am hoping that they will in 3 - 4 weeks at 15 weeks be of similar stature . And then these babies can have their old area after I clean it out. So yeah my plans were a bit off and I have to wait.

HELP:
My incubator rotator got unplugged for a little over 24 hrs on day 7-8. Will it effect the chicks that much?? I'm hoping they are going to be ok and it won't kill them. This is a VERY EXPENSIVE batch!! And it's the only chance at me having a special flock!
