EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

I worked with about 400 macaws. including 30 or more breeding pairs each of both great greens and scarlets.
Almost all were rescues from makeshift zoos, hotels and pet owners that discarded them. Birds that live this long shouldn't be owned by humans.

This is how parrots were meant to live. That's a wild macaw flying along the coast.

I have a friend that lived in Altadena, CA and there are HUNDREDS of wild parrots in that area. There were nests of them all over her neighborhood. It was awesome to sit in her backyard and see them flying around, free as can be. That is the way they should live!!

There was an earlier post about bears - I'm VERY glad we have no bears down here. I think the biggest thing I"ve seen in my area is a mountain lion - not in my yard, but in the hills close by. My old house, we had one that was wandering around our neighborhood, but she was sick and died before we could trap her. But when I lived up north, the ski resort at June Lake was getting ready to open for the season, they freezer was stocked a week ahead of time. Nobody went up there for a couple of days, but when they did, they found the ENTIRE SIDE OF THE BUILDING was torn open all the way into the freezer, and the food was gone. If they are left alone, there isn't much that will stop them from getting what they want.

For sure on the bears. A regular can opener they are. My grandma when she was alive lived in Pasadena.

Looks like my reply didn't come through.

Was saying bears are can openers. My grandma lived in Pasadena when she was alive.

My runner eggs are at the end of day 23. I candled them tonight and two of them are just completely black! I can see veins on the pointy end so they are definitely alive. Are they getting in the hatch position?

I'm baaaaack! :bun
I wanted to switch back to Directv. Cancelled Dish as soon as I signed up, and had an appointment to get service yesterday morning. The downside was finding out that I was getting HughesNet for my internet. That would take until the fifth to be installed.
I waited and waited for the guy yesterday. The house was clean (I might have accidentally rearranged the entire living room more than ten times :hide ), the laundry was being folded and put away as it was being done. I didn't even clean this well for Heather!!!
I was having television installed in the bedroom ( no comment! ;) ), so cleaning was a big deal in there.
I finally called Directv, and was told that they couldn't provide service to my location. The woman was quite horrible to me, and I wasn't guilty of anything!
So I called Dish. Oh my goodness! That is another story!! I'll spare you. The guy showed up, was thoroughly confused about the work order, and gone in 30 minutes. So if the work order had been correct, he could have been gone in about ten.
One problem. I bought one new power strip from him, but was charged for two. I just now saw that in an email.

Careful with dish. They doubled my parents bill, then Mom called and changed the package to something smaller. They were at the house for almost 5 hours installing the new boxes needed. And the bill is completely messed up. Internet is through the phone company.

Mornings, Sally, so sorry to hear Harmony is still not feeling well. I hope you get some answers soon.

Ugh - So, my pygmy gave birth to twins. She just abandoned them. didn't cleanthem up, didn't help them with the afterbirth, so one still was stuck in the sac, and the other was barely alive. I brought it inside and washed it off and got an ounce of warm goats milk into it. Now I have to go milk her to keep her from getting engorged or getting mastitis.

First time mom, and she picks the morning I'm trying to get back to the hospital to go see my son, to give birth and be a bad mom....
oh no Kaj, I just got your text I am so sorry sweetie, praying for him and the critters

It's official that Abi's ducks have trained me. I make them a soup every morning and night to make sure the one with the broken bill is able to eat, and they have figured out the schedule, and gone so far as to insist that I give them their soup before I even feed the chickens. They have no problem quacking loudly to tell me I am late with their soup! Funny ducks! My old goose finally joined them and they all seem to be getting along just fine.

Day 23 black copper Marans, 40 eggs. I got a better light. 15 egg were not fertile. There is an inconsistency in air cell size. Some of the air cells seem to be way off to the side. They were in a rotating tray. Can anyone tell anything from these picks? Also one is still alive what do I do with that?

did you open any to see when dis occurred?
Quote: adopt I would love to adopt lol only ones I see are $ 2500 or more I was grateful to take on sammy!
