I always gone by the false one's are shaggy, not holey like a natural sponge, I think that one's a real morel just a little skeptic, guess that pic is the right way to check.Beercan that's a good 'poster" I have never seen that one, I have seen just the long complicated description that never mention they do not look at all alike either...
The morels are about an hour south of Peoria right now according to JerryS. I am ready and checking my lilacs everyday for a flower bud.

Popular is very possible but that was a long time ago. I'm not sure I would have put it in compost pile however I do scrape the weeds around where they used to be and put that in compost pile.Were there any old elm, ash or poplar trees or roots in the area?
