In all seriousness, not sure if it's just my chickens, but it seems that the older a chicken/group of chickens is the earlier they go to roost, and the younger they are, the more they push the limits and are outside late. Little ones like that for me were always really bad at going to bed on time...

GOOD MORNING, MY FLOCK OF SEAGULLS!

Duckling is 2. There is no "go out, collect eggs, come right back in". Especially on a nice day. Yesterday she "found" her tricycle that I hid in the middle of the side yard where she plays all the time.

So, as I stood by a piece of garbage prefab coop that I keep thinking I need to toss or fix, I noticed Sabrina the turkey inside. She walked out, and there was a clutch of six (infertile) eggs. I went to do bed checks last night (Duckling was roosting on the highest perch she could get to. J/K) and found one hen still in an empty nest. She is the third this month. Then I went looking for Sabrina. She used to sleep on the chimney of the outdoor oven. Then I caught her, and have had her in a coop with a run. She has only been out again for about a week. ANYWAY! She was laying on her clutch.
And that is what is happening this spring.

Love it - broodies all around, tis the season! (Of course, easy for me to say, I don't have to break them.)
I seem not to ever get broodies until later when it is WAY too hot for them to be thinking about it, which is dangerous for them.

I keep thinking that I should be in better shape from how much physical stuff I do, but I'm REALLY not (need to work on that). That being said, my back, while still a little tricky (it spasms), is a lot better because of all the water hauling and bending, believe it or not. It does badly with immobility, if I keep moving (including while it's killing me), it does better.

Dax, how is the plank challenge going? I was thinking of trying that. @meltel , thanks for posting it...

Well, yesterday my 30 minute nap turned into 3-1/2 hours, so that's very familiar to me. My body is very good at INSISTING...
