EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

Good night everyone! :frow
:frow Goodnight! Glad you're feeling better.
Thanks
Just wanted to pop in and say thank you all! My little turkey chick is doing very well, as are the other two that hatched. Also, got my new incubator today so I won't have any more temperature fluctuations from now on. :D Turkey chick is sleeping on the stuffed sloth, to the right.
Great! When you firing up the new incubator?
Try to herd them toward a section of fence with a corner or vee if you can (or set something up to funnel them into the coop and herd them there). If you can't, then you're stuck keeping an eye on them as it gets dark. It'll eventually get dark enough so that you can get them because it'll be too dark to see. Going forward, I'd keep them in a fenced in paddock adjacent to the coop, and if they aren't returning to the coop readily, then make the paddock small at first. Good luck! I've been there - it's infuriating. (Hey, it's also SO much fun to pull them out of the trees form a ladder in the dark - NOT.)
The last 4 are secure in the coop now. 3 went in on their own while I was "cooling off" and the last one was perched on the chicken door. Ugh...
Glad they are gathered up and accounted for.
It is running now, seems to be fully calibrated out of the box. Just waiting for a friend to get me some good eggs.

Hey, all - Kassaundra has some "toddler" photos of her latest scaleless Fm chicken up over here, including his current clothes (he's still small enough to wear just a modified sock, though she says he's a drama queen about it).

REALLY naked chick

That thing wouldn't make it through September here.

No! I'm getting a dozen Harlequin hatching eggs tomorrow! Someone local has them for sale! I've always wanted Welshies! :celebrate
@BantyChooks

Congratulations!

i tried last year, no luck
Can you shoot it,if you find it on your yard? You can claim for family defense.

only if it is attacking you

If I will find a bear in my yard I will not hesitate.

Lots of bears in Israel, are there? :p

Yes, a lot of them, but here they walk on 2 legs ,carry an AK-47
and called Mustafa or something close. ....

not me i have those room darkening curtains.

I find that being slowly awakened by sunlight is a lot better than the harsh, scratchy blare of a 30 year old alarm clock.

How 'bout a 2 yr old rooster or 3?

Got 5 in the coop. I'm so used to them I no longer really register it as noise.

I've got 7 full-throated roosters (@daxigait

 - cockbirds ;) ) that go off first at 4:45 for about 5 minutes, then for an hour around 5:30-6 (and a few cockerels in training). My bed is against the window close to the chicken yard - Snape on his roost is no more than 30-40 feet from my head, through a window. I still sleep through them unless I've gotten a good 9-10 hours and am ready to get up anyway.

:he :he :he

x2  Will it be harder to keep it away now that it's had a meal there?

Well, if it makes you feel any better, I'm headed to the post office. ;)

I was wondering if you are allowed to choot'em now.

tech no, but i have a tractor

:thumbsup       Take em out if you can, he was coming right for you!

What you described is one of my definitions of hell. 7 rooster 10 meters from my head? Not even in a 1000 years!!!

I think it's even a little closer than that. I have always had a hard time getting up in the morning - I used to set 5 alarms (no kidding). Now I just set two.

I have hyperacusis, you know what 7 roosters means to me??
