How did you become interested in the Penedesencas?

I hope you don't mind me chuckling a bit at the hallucinating and hiding in the woods.
I really liked my dark Welsummer eggs and wanted more dark layers. Researching all the dark layers, I found Marans, Barnevelders, Langshans, Empordanesa and Penedesenca. I considered Marans but they are pretty common and I'm not very common so I wanted something more obscure. It took me a year to find my original stock.
From there it didn't take very long before they became my favorite of all the 30 breeds I've had. Through attrition, I didn't replace any of the breeds I lost till now I only have the BPs, plus 3 olive eggers that are daughter and granddaughters of an Ameraucana that was my oldest hen when a mink killed her.

I don't mind at all. The Missouri River was in flood stage during the race. The wing dikes were submerged and buoys would occasionally pop up out of the water unexpectedly. There were some channels that would open up that looked like the main channel at night and once I hit a dead end and had to paddle back upstream over a mile to get back on course.
The last 2 nights, the huge trees lining the river became cartoon characters. There was a big power plant on the shore of the river all lit up but the more I paddled, the farther away it seemed to get like it was hovering the river just ahead of me. I thought it was a flying saucer.
I miscounted bridges. There were two bridges close together and I thought there was only supposed to be one. I had no idea how, but now I thought I was lost and in another part of the state. It was around midnight. Just before the first bridge I passed a mile marker that I couldn't read but I thought if I could paddle back to it and the number made sense, I would know if I was where I was supposed to be.
I started paddling upstream under that last bridge but got swept downstream. The river seemed to ebb and surge. All of a sudden, in my addled state, I thought the next bridge was a dam and that I thought I was going to get sucked into the turbines. In a panic I paddled hard upstream and running out of steam, I steered the canoe into the woods and hung onto a tree. This lasted close to 2 hours. I thought it was a government conspiracy. This whole time, I was less than a mile from the end of the race.
Is not even 4:20 yet.....

420 holiday was Thursday I think.

I find that being slowly awakened by sunlight is a lot better than the harsh, scratchy blare of a 30 year old alarm clock.
Or a rooster. Sadly, I can't hear my rooster in the house.

Good Morning Everyone, i hope you are having a better morning than i am

my bear is back
Wow! So far, the closest radio collared bears are about 60 miles away. Two sightings last year were in 2 adjacent counties to us.
Mountain lions are closer. A sighting in my county.
Bear sightings.

I'm headed out Salmon fishing this evening. I need to get some work done first. But I'm excited.
Headed to trout Bay in the north side of Grand Island.
It's in the Pictured Rocks National Park. Beautiful place.
Sounds wonderful. Have fun.

no, but if he did more damage the horse could get out, and in doing so injured

yep, currently missing 3 ducks and 6-7 chickens
some could be hiding but thats whats mia/eaten
not anymore
Hope they come back. Were there a lot of feathers?

it is what it is, unfortunately

what stinks is i was going to run the electric fence onto it this weekend, and put out the wolf scent as well as the solar lights
bear came 2 days too early

That's always the same here. A day late and a dollar short.

Quote:
i do expect him back and will be doing a stake-out
i am going to do a trip-wire to a bell in the truck
no light there,

i dont want to change too much down there and alert him, i want him dead

I guess you plan on eating it.

A bear could

Nothing is going to keep a bear out that wants in, except electric, maybe.

If a bear wanted to, it could get into my house. They are scary strong.

One smashed my neighbour's car after feed a few years ago. Guess which gal doesn't keep feed in her car after hearing that?

What you described is one of my definitions of hell. 7 rooster 10 meters from my head? Not even in a 1000 years!!!
Everyone had chickens in Costa Rica. I didn't need an alarm clock to make it to work on time. I MUCH preferred awakening to the neighborhood roosters than an alarm clock.

And why not??

Seems that I'm the only one that keeps mine current.
I can't find mine but I know it is expired. I need to renew it.

I have 3 eggs in the incubator. It is day 24. No piping yet, but on day 18 they were good when candled. What do I do? Any suggestions?
Any left on day 24, I float test them.

Sweet, good luck

It is 3-1 now with 12 minutes left in the third.

"No Trespassing" signs, maybe? Electricity won't, unless it has enough voltage & amperage to put it down immediately.

Better way to put it would have been that electricity is sometimes enough to make it decide it doesn't really want to get in.
