EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

Ok, you have a good point. I should have reworded it. My local TSC is not well informed as far as the employees are concerned. I will say that the smaller feed stores seem to be better informed than our local TSC.

What do you guys do with early hatchers? I have 1 lone chick in incubator since last night, and no other external pips yet. I do not plan on any other chicks hatching till tommorow evening.
I set them on a Saturday night around 9-10 pm.
This one started to hatch early Thursday.
The rest are still viable, I just don't like keeping chicks in the incubator so long as long as there are no other eggs that have external pipping.
Does the constant chirping from this chick encourage the others to get a move on?

As far as the early hatcher, I must have missed that one in the nest box when I collected them, so with our temps, it could have easily started to develop before I collected it.

It probably encountered some pre-storage incubation by hens sitting on it. I'd go ahead and take it out since no others pipped yet. 4 days would be too long to leave it in.

Ok, that's what I thought. It's driving me nuts just constantly chirping.
Yes, I do believe that my broody hen, who hatched her chicks a couple of weeks ago, must have sat on this one for a few days. I mark all the ones I set under broody, so this one got pulled when I went to check on her.
Thanks!!
I will pull it out later, after the kids go to school. It's a bit early here to wake them up, and I know all that noise will surly wake them up.
