I buy stock tanks and they just live in the house. I put a fire place grill over the top to keep them from flying out once they are older. :hmm

:lau

the only thing that bugs me, is with ducks, I clean 3-4x as much as I do with baby chicks :(

The box they came out of is to the left, big lawnmower box...

They have so much room now. I need to get the pellet bedding now heh...already shavings galore, which I knew when I finished making the frame, but my back was killing me and Chicks of all ages were crying, so just wanted to finish

It was nice enough to let them enjoy outside...

Hi MC!

That's awful. No real suggestions, set them and hope for the best.

 Sounds interesting.

Glad there was less mess this morning.

I'm sorry. I hope the others make it.

Had one more pass by the time I got home :( 1 silver 2 gold left. They are with the new hatched chicks now... 3 separate brooders going now lol

I can't sleep. :he

Sorry... I'm going to bed in a few min...

@chicken hawk 33

I gave you a great opportunity to get started into a rare breed.  After I offered to give you those Ayam Cemani eggs, at my expense, I was advised that you make a habit of taking advantage of people.  But I made the offer, so I sent you the eggs.  I since asked you to not bother me again.  But you continue to fill my in-box, and you continue to post on various threads.

Since you want to discuss things here, lets do that.

Let's discuss that you didn't even know what this breed was before accepting the eggs.
Let's discuss how you were more interested in ascertaining the value of the eggs instead of taking a few minutes to provide shipping information.
Let's discuss that you seemed to be only interested in using your opportunity to make money.
Let's discuss why you won't stop messaging me.
Let's discuss why I'm not answering your PMs fast enough.
Let's discuss why you wouldn't look for the many pictures of my birds I had already posted on BYC instead of asking me to PM them to you.
Let's discuss why you won't do any of your own research on the breed, to answer your own questions?

But you want answers here about feathered legs?  ok!

Ayam Cemani are a work in progress.  It is not a finished breed.  In fact, some would argue it's not a breed at all.  Many consider it a land race, and as such, things crop up from time to time.  Even in the oldest of breeds from the best of breeders, not all chicks make the cut.  I have not kept exact records, but I estimate that I keep about 3% to 5% of my chicks as potential future breeders.  Approximately 25% or more get culled at hatch due to either white on the toes or white wing tips.  The rest are offered for sale locally.  I have noticed that some unsold chicks turn out better than the ones I initially selected to keep.  You just can't be sure what you're going to end up with based on an assessment as chicks.  Let me repeat - You cannot know how they will grow out until they are all grown out and mature.  I would grow them all out if I could.

I cannot tell you why you have a chick with feathered legs. I do not understand the genetics for feathered legs.  Yes, I did see a few chicks this year with that undesirable trait.  I'm trying to get rid of it.  I have checked all my breeders for it, and I cull every chick that shows it.  I do not keep feathered legs in my breeding flock.  Yet it crops up from time to time.

I have made great improvements in my Ayam Cemani flocks, but I am nowhere near the finish line.  I did not represent that I was.  I only offered to give some lucky persons an opportunity to get involved with the breed.  Why?  Because I am positive there are some people who would love the opportunity, and can do great work to improve the breed, but due to current circumstances just can't invest much money to get that start.  I'm also positive some people would just love to add a really cool breed to their mixed flock but cannot justify the cost.  And I also don't believe in gouging people.  Just because someone can ask for a premium for what they sell doesn't mean they should.

I feel bad that you not only got a chick with excessive white on the toes, but that you also got one with some feathering on it's shanks. However, you also got two other chicks that could very well mature into nice specimens.  Only time will tell.

There are some Ayam Cemani threads on BYC.  You are welcome to join them, read them, ask questions, get pointers, etc.

My freind
You ,and no one elss, should tolerate abusing behavior! If you feel that, report and block the abuser! You don't owe nothing to anyone here!
Keep the good job!
