EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

dont ask where the rest of my words went cause idk I am on new med shots and they make me sick as heck I need to go puke now maybe I be back maybe I go die in bed

I'm so sorry you aren't feeling well. I hope the side effects settle down and you start to feel better (plus I hope the meds are helping to heal you). :hugs:hugs

I forgot to lockdown the serama in the new bator, needed to move them into the cooler hatcher, I can just talk to myself a while I guess. I am dumb the majority is pipped, dumb dumb dumb they are in the cooler and the cooler is now trying to get to temp. oh well, I should have just taken them out and given them all to the two broodies sitting in the same nest for three weeks I guess. but what do I do with them after they hatch? :he
Give them to the broodies to hatch, and after they hatch, the broodies will take care of them until you sell them.
I am doing ok, but thinking I should lock the doors on the birds and go to bed early..

The WW was here for 5 days and I am beat from having to sleep with one eye open to make sure she did not turn me into a frog.
Shouldn't you be more afraid of being turned into a duck?

A rubber duck, with a bright orange bill, a permanent smile, and a turned-up tail.

Sorry, been away listening to my favorite German rock band. :p

Interesting day! I went out this morning to move the demolished run away from the clean out door. After shoveling a load of bedding into the wheelbarrow, I realized I'd have to toss some into the storage area (which needs cleaned anyway). I knew I'd not be able to handle all those loads today. :th

While cleaning, I found a hidden nest with 13 eggs.

Omelette anyone?

I also found a duck egg in a cinder block. That one was easier to understand.

The area where the ducks slept was really bad. I had most of the bedding piled in a corner yesterday. The back where the ducks slept needed to dry out more. I'm not putting ducks in the coop again. :sick
So, I hauled five loads, and the chickens went through the pile like a child when you clean out their toy box.

Lots of splinters, a ton of near falls (wet poop/bedding), and one very achy back. I walked into the house, and thought I'd die! 76° in the house, and 101 on the front porch.
My shower was stressful, but I'll spare you the details. :p
The broody due today is still waiting. She did manage to get two more eggs over the last three weeks. That is okay, because the third broody has no eggs. She will happily take over the extra two.
See, this is why I have dirt floors. I have to rake it out once a year to get rid of all the feathers, but I don't have to deal with bedding.

@Sally Sunshine what kind of shots? They are supposed to start me on nerve blocks and I have no idea what to expect. this neurontin is frying my blonde polish brain but it does help some with the electric shock feeling shooting up and down my arm so I have to take it.
My mom had to get something like that done and so did a family friend. Mom was off for about a week after each shot (I think she had 2, but I'm a little fuzzy on details.) She had a roll down gate fall across the back of her neck and shoulders and it damaged a couple vertebra.
